  • We took a ferry to Cumberland Island. The only way to get around the island is by foot, tour bus or bike. We took a tour. The island is 18 miles N-S and 3 miles wide. We stopped at the Plum Orchard Mansion on our way north to tour These were some of the rooms…

  • They shot these big guns, too.  We then ventured in to town to pick up our lunch for the following day (we had to pack one). We went to the Picnic Basket for delicious wraps. We then went to the Salty Pelican for an early dinner and were able to get a table pretty quickly.…

  • These guys are getting ready to shoot their guns. We got to see about 15 different guns fire.

  • We checked out these jeeps. Everyone had a lot of knowledge and they were happy to answer all my questions and share with me.  Mom enjoyed checking things out with me.

  • We went back to Fort Clinch the next day because they were having a WWII re-enactment. I got to hold some guns… A picture of the fort from the beach.  As well as this bazooka. They were all ridiculously heavy and it’s hard to imagine they were carried for miles.

  • I had my keens on this time which made it a little easier for walking through the water.

  • We went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant called Peppers. We had hoped to eat at the Salty Pelican, but we would have had to wait 45 minutes to eat.  After dinner, we walked along the beach again, but went the other way. We ran into this guy mixed in with the shells.

  • These were our bikes that we rented. We then headed back to the hotel to clean up a bit before dinner.

  • We left there and rode our bikes to the historic downtown. We decided on ice cream for lunch (may not have been the best choice in the end). We went to Fantastic Fudge.

  • We came across this little guy who was also exploring the fort. I tried to catch him but had no luck.
