We hiked up Judd Falls, which is up Gothic Road. It was about 1 mile up to the water fall, so we decided to keep going a bit further. Mom had made puppy chow for everyone and the adults thought we’d find a big meadow and sit and eat a little snack before heading back down. We started the continued hike and we had the brilliant idea of hiding from our parents until they passed and then we would go back down to the bottom of the trail. Keep in mind there was no cell service up there. Once they passed that’s what we did. Meanwhile, the parents thought they should see us once they got to a big opening, but they didn’t. They all split up and started to look for us. They spent a solid hour walking up and down the trail, asking all hikers they passed if they had seen a group of about 5 boys. No one had. After a decent amount of time passed, the adults decided to start heading down and they were prepared to call rescue services to come help them find us. We had sat down by the car for over an hour and we started to think they might be up there looking for us. In fact, they were. We decided to head back up the trail to try and find them. We all met back by the waterfall. At first, we didn’t fess up to hiding. We just said we didn’t ever leave the trail and we don’t know what happened. It came out that evening through crafty parenting the actual story. We learned a lesson that day.
